Skinfold Thickness Procedure One method of estimating body fat is through skinfold thickness measurement using from three to nine different standard anatomical sites around the body from the right side only (for consistency). The tester pinches the skin at the appropriate site to raise a double layer of skin and the underlying adipose tissue, but not the muscle.
