A 10 m long board has a mass of 7 kg. The left end of the board is against a wall and it sticks straight out like a boom. A rope is tied 1 m from the right end of the board and makes a 44 degree angle with the boom. A 25 kg box hangs 3 m from the right end. Find the tension in the rope.
Consider a horizontal forearm. On one end of the forearm is the elbow, and on the other end is the hand. The forearm has a mass of 5.00 kg. The distance from the elbow to the hand is 34 cm. If the biceps muscle connects to the forearm a distance of 5.50 cm from the elbow, and the biceps muscle can supply a maximum force of 775. N (with the forearm in a horizontal position), what is the maximum mass (in kg) that the person can hold? (What equation can I use to solve this problem? Shouls I assume that the center of mass of the forearm to be midway/ in the middle between the elbow and the hand?)
The joint angle between thigh and leg is θ = 90°. The resistive forces are the weights of
the leg and the foot. The distance between the axis of rotation of the knee joint and the
center of mass of the leg is dLEG = 8.6 in, the distance to the center of mass of the foot is
dFT = 49 cm. The angle of attachment for the hamstring muscle is λ = 108°. The insertion
point of the hamstring is a distance dHAM = 2.5 cm away from the knee joint axis. The
mass of the foot is mFT = 1.25 kg, the mass of the leg is mLEG = 3.9 kg.
What is the magnitude of FHAM to maintain this position?

The pivot IS the wheel's axle. Here, the output force is greater than the input force. Thus, a wheelbarrow enables you to lift much heavier loads than you could with your body alone. (b) In the case of the shovel, the input force is between the pivot and the load, but the input lever arm is shorter than the output lever arm. The pivot is at the handle held by the right hand.
