Calculate the number of stops in each trip of 1.50 h of refuse collection for the following data
v= velocity = 15 km/h – 4.17 m/s
d= distance= 750 m
n = number of containers to empty per stop=1

Solid waste from a park is to be collected in large containers. It is estimated that the average time to
drive from the garbage to the first container t, and from the last container t₂ to the garbage each day
will be 15 and 20 minutes, respectively. If the average time required to drive between the containers
is 360 seconds and the two-way distance to the disposal site is 50 km (speed limit 88 km/hr), determine
the number of containers that can be emptied per day, based on an 8-hour work day.
Note: at 88 km/hr speed, a = 0.016, b= 0.011; S = 0.133, W = 0.15; Pc+U= 0.4 h/trip.

The cost of hauling waste directly from the collection point to landfill is $0.1/ton.min. The speed limit of any type of vehicle carrying waste between the collection point, the transfer station, and the landfill is 40 miles/hr. At/above what distance (miles) is using a transfer station more economical? Round your answer to the nearest whole number. Show your work.arrow_forward2. Instead, residents are to haul recycling containers to a drop off centre operated by the community. Calculate the number of vehicles from which recyclable materials must be unloaded per hour at the recycling centre. Assume the centre is open for 8 hours per day, two days a week, and that 40% of the residents will deliver recycling containers. Also assume 75% of the participants will take their separated materials to the drop-off centre once a week and the remaining 25% of participants will bring separated materials to the centre once every two weeks.arrow_forward
