Socialization is different in the digital age because media is consumed differently. Digital natives have grown up surrounded by technology and may not know a time before the internet was available. Digital immigrants are those who were socialized before the advent of social media and instant communication. The latter will have to be resocialized to communicate effectively with digital natives who are used to faster gratification.
