Mammals are the vertebrates whose body is covered with hair. They are found in a variety of habitats, mostly live on land and some of them are adapted to fly or live in water. Examples of mammals include bats, whales, mice, and humans.

Mammals are warm blooded animals. All the mammals have two characteristics features. First, the body is covered with hair or fur and secondly, their females have mammary glands to feed their young ones. They have a four-chambered heart that ensure more efficient and fast and optimum circulation of oxygenated blood to tissues.They have most developed alimentary canal for the digestion of complex food .The brain of a mammal is relatively largethat allows to carry out many complex brain functions.Mammals are heterodont means have four different types of teeth. They have advanced form of diaphragm. Since their energy requirement is high, they have high metabolic rate.
