Answer to Problem 1ASA

The convex spherical mirror shows the image that is diminished and errect whereas concave spherical mirror shows the image that is enlarged and real.

Explanation of Solution

Spherical mirror are the mirrors that has the shape of the piece cut of the spherical surface. The spherical mirror are of two types, one is the concave spherical mirror and other is the convex spherical surface.

The word concave means hollowed and  rounded like the interior of the sphere. The concave spherical mirror is also called the converging mirror. In the concave mirror the coating is on the outside the spherical surface. In this the reflecting surface and the center of the curvature are on same side of the mirror.

The focus is in the front of mirror and the image that is formed by the concave mirror is real, inverted in all the cases except when the object is between the pole and focus then the image is virtual and errect. The use of these mirrors are in torch lights, reflecting telescope and in shaving mirrors.

The word convex means curved and  rounded like the exterior of the sphere. . The convex spherical mirror is also called the diverging mirror. In the convex mirror the coating is done inside the spherical surface. In this the reflecting surface and the center of the curvature are on the opposite side of the mirror.

The focus is behind the  mirror and the image that is formed by the convex mirror is virtual, diminished and errect The use of these mirrors are in vehicles as there are rearview mirrors that cover the wide area.

Conclusion:

Thus, the convex spherical mirror shows the image that is diminished and errect whereas concave spherical mirror shows the image that is enlarged and real.
