Answer to Problem 6A

Interference is possible for all waves.

Explanation of Solution

Introduction:

The phenomena of superimposition of two waves that formed a resultant wave with lower, or greater amplitude is called interference.

The interference is possible not only for the light waves while it occurs for all waves because interference is the phenomena of superimposition of two waves that formed a resultant wave with the lower or greater same amplitude. It is possible for the light waves, sound waves, gravitational waves, etc. Interference is of two types- the first one is destructive interference and the second one is constructive interference.

Conclusion:

The interference is possible not only for the light waves. It occurs for all waves. There are some examples in which interference is possible such as, soap bubble with different colors, beats in the field of sound waves, and in water waves- interference pattern of the two-point source.
