Summary Introduction

To explain: The basic eukaryotic cell biology.

Introduction: Two types of cell are present in biological world- Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes. A eukaryotic cell has a plasma membrane, cytoplasm, and ribosomes like prokaryotes, along with these a true a membrane-bound nucleus and membrane organelles are also found. There cells are larger and more complex than prokaryotic cells.

Explanation of Solution

Eukaryotic cells are those cells that have a true nucleus and have membrane-bound organelles, including the endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, chloroplasts, and mitochondria and are enclosed by a plasma membrane. Organelles are intracellular structures that perform specific functions in cells analogous to the services of organs in the body of a multicellular organism.

The plasma membrane of eukaryotes is a lipid bilayer composed of a high proportion of sphingolipids and sterols (e.g., cholesterol and ergosterol) in addition to the phospholipids observed in bacterial membranes. These cells are found in Protista and higher organisms such as animals, plants, fungi such as moulds and yeasts.
