To identify:
The parallels in the properties and effects of epinephrine and the plant hormone auxin.
Introduction:
The organs of endocrine system release chemical signal as hormones. A hormone is released by the organ system when it receives an internal stimulus. The glands of endocrine system release their content directly into the blood circulation and regulate other organs of the body. They have no ducts and are called as ductless glands. The hormones of endocrine system are responsible for the regulation of body
The plants also produce hormones that play important role in the plant growth but their hormones are not secreted by glands. Their hormones are secreted by different cells in plant body. The plant hormone auxin is responsible for the growth of plants. Auxin promotes root initiation in plants.

- 1. A) Describe the three steps (Reception, Transduction, Response) of de-etiolation (greening response) signal transduction in plants. B) Describe a signal transduction (give the stimulus and response) that may occur in humans.arrow_forwardDescribe two general chemical features that distinguish plant hor- mones from animal hormones.arrow_forward86arrow_forward
- 1. Plant Hormone signal transduction is an exciting field and the mode of signaling for various hormones in the cellular context have been elucidated. Compare and contrast the plant hormone Auxin and ethylene signal transductions mechanisms. (Hint. Begin at the Receptor level)arrow_forwardPhenolics, spines, terpenes, cutins, defense related proteins and suberin are some examples of plant defense. Plants are evolving to put up a fight against plant pathogen invasion. (i) Classify them into TWO (2) main classes of plant defense. (ii) What are the roles of terpenes in plant defense?arrow_forwardPlant cells communicate in a variety of ways to elicit cellular responses. In the figure below the plant is responding the presence of light with the release of auxin. Auxin was first discovered for its ability to promote growth in plants. It is a plant hormone that inhibits the lengthening and stimulate the formation of lateral roots and root hairs. (b) Explain the role that auxin has in eliciting the plant’s response.arrow_forward
- The signaling molecule for flowering might be released earlierthan usual in a long-day plant exposed to flashes of(A) far-red light during the night.(B) red light during the night.(C) red light followed by far-red light during the night.(D) far-red light during the dayarrow_forwardYou have been chosen as the lead student gardener for the CSUMB Future Farmers of America Club (FFAC). Your club is looking to you and your Bio211 plant experience to guide them. You arrive at the new FFAC garden plots and notice that while there are many fruits on the apple tree, they seem to remain hard, sour, and green. Your club mates need the red, sweet apples in just a few days for the apple competition. Choose the best hormone to apply and the reason supporting its use: Select one: O a. Apply ethylene to the apples to increase ripening. O b. Apply ethylene to slow ripening and increase chlorophyll levels. O C. Apply auxin to increase parthenocarpy O d. Apply gibberellins to increase fruit size. O e. Apply auxins to decrease apical dominance and increase water intake.arrow_forwardPlease answer question 2arrow_forward
- A tobacco plant has successfully fended off plant pathogen via hypersensitive response (HR). (i) What would you be able to observe on the plant and explain the processes that happened at cellular level? What are the benefits for the tobacco plant that has developed systemic acquired resistance (SAR) in comparison to HR? (ii) (ii) Name the chemical compounds responsible in triggering SAR and how would this signal be transmitted?arrow_forwardNeed help with the third onearrow_forwardCan you clearly type the answers to the all the parts to this question please a) What is the role of the LEAFY gene in floral development? (b) What is the phenotype of the leafy mutant? (c) Most of the ABC program genes are directly regulated by the transcription factor LEAFY (LFY). Still, LFY is expressed broadly throughout the floral meristem when the discrete A, B, and C domains are established. Discuss how this single broadly expressed transcription factor can generate distinct domains of ABC gene expression. Feel free to use diagrams.arrow_forward
