Chapter 33.4, Problem 2MI
Summary Introduction

The immune system of the human body is divided into two types such as the innate immune system and adaptive or acquired immune system. The immune system includes different cell types like lymphocytes, neutrophils, monocytes, or macrophages. All these cells are collectively called white blood cells or leukocytes. There are two special types of leukocytes namely B lymphocytes and T lymphocytes. B lymphocytes or B cells are formed from the bone marrow and are involved in the humoral immune response. T lymphocytes or T cells are formed in the thymus and are involved in the cell-mediated immune response.
