The general adaptation syndrome (GAS) explain how the body in a response to the physiologically to the stressors through three stages of reaction to stress includes resistance, stage of alarm and exhaustion. The several body systems is involved in the general adaptation syndrome such as neuroendocrine feedback and responds instantly to the stress and general adaptation syndrome (GAS) is triggered either indirectly through a psychological event or directly by a physical event. The pituitary gland initiates the general adaptation (GAS) when a body experiences a physical demand such as injury. A body return to a state of balance is the fundamental underlying concept in this reaction and it is referred to as allostasis.
