Question
Chapter 38.1, Problem 2R
Summary Introduction
To review:
The way in which it could be determined whether it is a general immunity or specific immunity, which occurs by an induced response in a plant cell.
Introduction:
Immune system is basically the biological system, which provides protection to the host organism. Plant immune systems consist of mainly two types of immunity, that is, the general immunity and specific immunity, both of which are generated due to the special molecules called elicitors. Plants are protected against various pathogens by defense mechanisms activated by these immune systems.

- From the list below, select all the examples that of defense that ARE NOT considered part of the hypersensitive response. Multiple answers possible. high levels of capsaicin in fruits and seeds inhibit the spread of fungi on pepper plants. A caterpillar's digestion of proteins is inhibited after feeding on the leaves of a particular plant. Resistance is dependent on a highly specific interaction between the gene products of both the plant and the pathogen. Cells near the site of infection undergo cell death to limit the spread of the infection. The waxy coating of the leaf epidermis prevents bacteria from entering the leaf interior. - Discuss the immune response to either an extracellular bacterial pathogen or an intracellular viral pathogen. Include the branch(es) of the immune system which would mount the response, how that response would be mounted, and the major effector functions that would be observed. While you should include information on the innate immune response to your chosen pathogen, the bulk of your response should be focused on the adaptive immune response.
