Expert Solution & Answer

Summary Introduction

To fill:

The correct term in the given blank.

Introduction:

The muscles of heart relax and heart chambers filled with blood causing diastole. The diastole allows decrease in the pressure of the blood. The contraction of heart releases the blood out of it and towards the blood vessels. This is another phase of cardiac cycled diastole.

Answer to Problem 1.1A

About 70 % of the blood from the atria passes into the ventricles before the atrial walls contracts.

Explanation of Solution

At the time of diastole both ventricles are filled with the blood even if the atria are not contracting. The blood from the atria moves into the ventricles without the contraction of atria. The atria contracts and the remaining blood enters into the ventricles. The pressure in the atria remains constant in the cardiac cycle.
