Introduction:

The radioactive decay is the process in which the composition of the nucleus of the element changes due to emission of radioactive particle.

The atomic number of the element increases by one unit due to emission of one beta particle. The atomic number of the element is equal to the number of protons in the nucleus of the element. The one neutron from the nucleus of the element changes to proton, so one proton in the nucleus of element increases. The new elements obtained due to emission of beta particle have the atomic number more than the atomic number of previous element.

The elements in the periodic table are arranged in the increasing order of atomic number, so the forward decay of elements in periodic table is only possible by the emission of beta particle.
