Introduction

The ascribed statuses of a person who irritates me are male, white, and Jewish. His achieved status is teacher and his master status is Rabbi. His role is department chair, with role expectations that include mentor, colleague, and administrator. His role performance features passive aggressive interaction patterns and feelings of persecution. Role conflict arises between Rabbi and teacher, since in the former role he embraces heated discussion, while the latter needs to avoid power struggles with students. His role strain also occurs as a teacher because he struggles with classroom management.
