Interpretation:

The latent heat of vaporization at -16 oC should be calculated and the calculated value should be compared with the enthalpy values from the table.

Concept Introduction:

Latent heat of vaporization, ΔH, can be calculated as follows:

  ΔH=TΔVdPdT

dP/dT = Average change of pressure to the change of temperature (Calculated from slope)

  ΔV = Change in Volume

T = Temperature = -16 o C

We can find the value of slope by finding corresponding values of T and P from the tables.

Substituting those values in the equation above and converting units from ft3.psia to BTU and compare with the table values which are given in BTU
