Fossil fuel is a type of fuel that obtained through several years of natural process. It is a non-renewable source of energy. That is, once it finishes, finishes forever and require millions of years for its production.

The news titled “Fossil fuel continue to dominate US energy consumption”, published by Callum O Reilly in Hydrocarbon Engineering on 1st July 2019 reveals about the increased consumption of fossil fuels like petroleum, natural gas etc. even though the coal consumption is decreased, the other fossil fuels like petroleum and natural gases increased due to the increased in demand for the electrical energy and petroleum products.

The news titled “SC asks Meghalaya to deposit Rupees 100 crore fine for illegal coal mining” published by Samanwaya Rautray in ‘The economic Times’ on 4th July 2019 notified the warning for illegal mining of coal.

Both the reports are related to fossil fuel, which is a major energy source that we depend these days. Fossil fuels being non-renewable get depleted when it used continuously.  Major portion of the electricity used and the petroleum products are obtained from fossil fuel.

The first article is based on the increased use of fossil fuel.  The second article is about illegal mining of coal. The increased demand on coal and the profit obtained on selling that lead to the illegal mining. Even though fossil fuel is non-renewable source of energy, people are using it without any limit.  The Lakota Sioux proverb says that, what we have today are borrowed from our children not inherited from the ancestors.  But, we are using the resources as it is inherited from the ancestors and need not to keep anything for the future.
