Chapter 42, Problem 13TYU
Summary Introduction
To determine:
Why the dung burying process by the beetles is important for cycling of the nutrients and for primary production.
Introduction:
Dung beetles feed on dung and reproduce in dung as well, the characteristics of detritivores. Dung beetles complete their whole life cycle in dung from mating to deposition of eggs. According to their action, they fall into the group rollers, tunnelers and dwellers. Burying of dung by these beetles helps the replenishment of soil and break down of complex organic matter to simpler ones.

1)What is one interesting or surprising thing you learned from the video you watched?
2)It’s unlikely that you personally hunt wolves or whales, and equally unlikely that you are responsible for importing rabbits and foxes to Australia as shown in these videos. But your actions do affect ecosystems. What is one thing you can start doing or stop doing right away to help protect the earth’s ecosystems? Explain how the thing you chose helps to protect ecosystems.
