Introduction: In the depolarization phase, potential differences are generated across the cell membrane. The potential differences are of two types: the graded potential and the action potential. Action potential can be defined as change in membrane potential resulting in signal transmission along the axon. Graded potential is due to change in membrane potential but is confined to smaller region.
