Question
Chapter 44.8, Problem 2TC
Summary Introduction
To determine:
How photosynthesis is affected when the stomata close.
Introduction:
The opening and closing of stomata is dependent on influx and out flux of K+ ions. The influx of K+ ions result in increase in ionic concentration allowing the water to move inside the guard cells whereas out flux of K+ ions increases the ion concentration outside the guard cell which makes water to flow out from the guard cells making them shrink and closing the stomata.
Summary Introduction
To determine:
How the movement of water into the root affected.
Introduction:
The transpiration takes place through stomata. During transpiration, negative pressure is created into the xylem tissue which leads to the upward flow of water.
