Chapter 46, Problem 5MC
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Plant hormones coordinate the development and ripening of fruits and seeds. Seed maturation is closely coordinated with fruit ripening because most seeds are dispersed in fruits. Auxins, gibberellins, ethylene, and abscisic acid are the important plant hormones. Tropisms represent the movement towards or away from the specific environmental stimuli. Tropisms are mainly caused by unequal cell elongation. It takes place when a stimulus enhances or inhibits cell elongation without disturbing the rate of cell division.
