The hair is a protein filament or the external growth of the dermis layer which serves various functions. It is the protective sheet of the skin which primarily functions to sense the things that touch the skin. On the scalp, the hair follicles serve to protect the head from external environment conditions. The skin is classified into the epidermis, the dermis, and the subcutaneous layer.
