Concept explainers
To distinguish:
Between reticular connective tissues and elastic connective tissues
Introduction:
Connective tissues are the supporting tissues which bind to other tissues of the body and provide support to them. Distributed widely, connective tissues are made up of cells and extracellular matrix. Loose connective tissues, dense connective tissues, and specialized connective tissues are the three main types of the connective tissues.
Reticular connective tissue:
Reticular connective tissues are highly branched specialized connective tissues. Reticular connective tissues are very thin collagenous tissues composed of fibroblasts and white blood cells.
Elastic connective tissue:
Elastic connective tissues are highly elastic, dense connective tissues. The structure of elastic connective tissue comprises of bundles of microfibrils embedded in elastin.
