Chapter 5, Problem 17SAE
Summary Introduction
To review:
The composition of the epiphyseal plates and their role in the growing children.
Introduction:
The ends of the long bone are called as the epiphysis. The epiphysis comprises the thin and very delicate layer of the compact bone and helps in enclosing the particular area. This enclosed area surrounded by the epiphysis is filled with the spongy bone. The epiphysis helps in reducing the friction at the surfaces of the joints. The articular cartilage mainly covers the external surface of the epiphysis.
