Chapter 5, Problem 7RQ
A 480-volt three-phase load is rated at 34.5 kVA. It is to be supplied with variable three-phase voltage. Because the load is continuous, the transformers ratings are to be increased by 1.25% of the rated load. Three variable autotransformers are used to supply this load. Refer to Table 4-2 and determine the standard size of each transformer that should be used to make this connection.

A six-pole lap wound armature rotating at 350 rpm is required to generate 260 V. The effective flux per pole is about 0.05 Wb. If the armature has 120 slots, determine the suitable number of conductors per slot and hence determine the actual value of flux required to generate the same voltage
A 3-phase, 50 Hz, 3000 V motor develops 600 H.P. (447·6 kW), the power factor being 0·75 lagging andthe efficiency 0·93. A bank of capacitors is connected in delta across the supply terminals and powerfactor raised to 0·95 lagging. Each of the capacitance units is built of five similar 600-V capacitors.Determine the capacitance of each capacitor.
