The characteristics that distinguish the epithelium from the other three primary tissue classes.
Introduction:
Epithelial cells are sheets of adhering cells that cover the body surfaces, cavities in the form of internal and external linings of body organs, and tissues of glands. The main functions of the epithelial cells are protection, secretion, absorption, excretion, sensation, and filtration. Epithelia consists of three classes namely simple (one layer of cells), pseudostratified, and stratified (consists of 2 to 20 layers of cells).
