Introduction:
If the surface of contact is rough, there will be friction when there is relative motion or tendency of relative between the two surfaces. This friction can be static or kinetic friction.
- If the body is at rest it is static friction.
- If the body is in motion it is kinetic friction.
- Coefficient of static friction is greater than kinetic friction.
- Both the coefficient of kinetic and static friction is less than one.
