Concept explainers
The vector addition of the three vectors.
Answer to Problem 44SSC
The sum of the three vectors is zero and object is at rest with equilibrium.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
The vectors are always added from tail of one vector to head of other vectors. The x- components of all the vectors are summed together and y- component of all vectors are summed together. To find the resultant summation of all x -component and y -component squared separately and the square of the both adds up. The square root of the sum of squared components gives the resultant.
If the given vectors form a closed figure to find the resultant then the sum of all the vectors become zero. The three vectors form a triangle, so the sum of these three vectors must be zero. The three forces on the object implies about the equilibrium of the object. The object remain at rest until the sum of the three forces remain zero, so the object does not move and remain in equilibrium.
Conclusion:
Thus, the sum of the three vectors is zero and object is at rest with equilibrium.
