To explain:
A model to predict the relative species diversity and richness in two coffee plantations: one is clear-cut plantation with only coffee shrubs and the other one retains some natural forest.
Introduction:
Models were designed on the basis of two plantations each measuring one hectare, representing a clear-cut plantation and a natural forest, respectively. Clear-cut plantation has coffee shrubs only, whereas the natural forest has more number of other species in comparison to the coffee shrubs. Numerical symbols represent animal species and letters represent plant species.
Species richness is the total number of species found in a particular area. Species diversity relates to the relative abundance of the species. For example, the number of species in two areas is same; however, area 1 is dominated by single species, and this would not indicate that it is species diverse also.
