Question
Chapter 54.4, Problem 1CC
Summary Introduction
To determine: The reason for a wide band of similar temperatures at the tropics in reference to figure 54.16 given in the textbook.
Introduction: The weather pattern prevailing in a particular region is known as its climate. Climate consists of light, temperature, precipitation, and wind. Latitudinal variations in the solar radiations arriving on Earth cause temperature differences across the planet. Variations in temperatures across regions determine the type of biological species inhabiting them.

The three images below are snapshots of the atmospheric CO2 concentration in May, July, and September of a year. To interpret the CO2 concentration:
blue/green/yellow indicates lower to medium CO2 concentrations and red/maroon/pink indicates medium-high to highest CO2 concentrations.

O Higher rates of plant and algae growth in summer lead to higher photosynthesis rates
O Less fossil fuels are emitted by humans in the summer
O More cars are driven by humans in the summer
O Lower rates of plant and algae growth in summer lead to decreased rates of photosynthesis
Based on the following information, identify the true statement about the two North American cities, both situated in the western United States.
For City A, the coldest average monthly temperature is 7° Celsius in December and the hottest average monthly temperature is 27° Celsius in July.
For City B, the coldest average monthly temperature occurs in December at -0.2°, and the warmest average monthly temperature occurs in July at 29.8° Celsius.
Group of answer choices
City A is located east of City B
City B is located more interior than City A
City B is located west of City A
City B is located nearer to the coast than City A
The two cities are located at the same latitude
The warming trends discussed in the Case Study are most pronounced at the equator, where sunlight is most direct. What would you predict the effect of global warming to be nearer the poles, where temperatures are lower and there is less sunlight?
