The interval gap between two eruptions of Mount Vesuvius and comparison of this gap to human life span.
Answer to Problem 1QR
A long time interval may take place between two eruptions of Mount Vesuvius. It happened around 1500 years back and buried Pompeii and Herculaneum in Italy (in 79 CE). Next earthquake is expected to occur in the next 17 years, but not as the frequency and intensity of the earlier one.
Explanation of Solution
Mount Vesuvius is one of the most famous and active volcanoes in the world. It has a very long interval. Its last eruption occurred long back in 79 CE. It happened around 1500 years back and buried Pompeii and Herculaneum in Italy. In this eruption most residents of Pompeii were fled. The people, who remained alive, are still inside the houses only to suffocate from breathing hot particles and gases coming from volcanic debris.
It is expected that earthquakes may occur in the next 17 years, but with lower intensity and frequency than earlier one. Therefore, it can be said that a long time interval may take place between two eruptions of Mount Vesuvius.
