Mrs. S is a 44-year-old woman who is recently undergone extensive surgery for uterine cancer. The nursing student finds that the patient and her family members do not get any explanation about the treatment and the complications of the surgery. The surgeon did not answer the family’s questions and fails to comfort the patient’s distress. As a patient advocate, the nursing student had a professional and ethical duty to make sure that the patient and the family had received adequate answers.
