Chapter 6, Problem 6.19P

Construct a curvilinear- square map of the potential field between two parallel circular cylinders, one of 4 cm radius inside another of 8 cm radius. The two axes are displaced by 2.5 cm. These dimensions are suitable for the drawing. As a check on the accuracy, compute the capacitance per meter from the sketch and from the exact expression:

C = 2 τ ε cosh 1 [ ( a 2 + b 2 D 2 ) / ( 2 a b ) ]

Where a and b are the conductor radii and D is the axis sepatation.

1. а. Obtain the absolute potential at point A (2, 2, 3) m due to a point charge Q=0.4nC is located at the origin. If the same point charge is relocated to B (2, 3, 3) m, calculate the absolute potential at new position due to charge Q.  b. A coaxial cable has inner radius of 1.2cm and outer radius of 1.8cm and has a length of 35m with an insulating material with relative permittivity 4.5. Calculate: i. Capacitance per meter. ii. Total Energy stored in the cable if a potential of 400v is applied across the cable.
An Electric field propagating in free space is given by E(z,t)=40 sin(π108t+βz) ax A/m. The expression of H(z,t) is:    Select one: a. H(z,t)=15 sin(π108t+0.33πz) ay KA/m b. H(z,t)=15 sin(π108t+0.66πz) ay KV/m c. H(z,t)=150 sin(π108t+0.33πz) ay A/m d. None of these
A parallel plate capacitor contains two dielectrics A and B (interfaces parallel to E and D) with relative permittivity of 1.5 and 3.5 respectively. Dielectric B comprises one third of the capacitor's volume and the remaining volume is occupied by dielectric A. If the area of each conducting plate is 3 square meters and the separation between them is 2 mm, find the capacitance
