Bond length: The distance between the nuclei of two covalently bonded atoms in a molecule.
Bond strength: The strength with which a
- Bond length and bond strength is inversely related.
- When bond length increases, bond strength decreases and vice-versa.
- In the case of identical atoms, triple bond is shorter than the double bond and double bond is shorter than the single bond.
- Depending on the length of the bond and number of bonds having the atoms will strength orders.
