Plants Growth Cycle
Learning Objectives
In this lab, you will practice:
Defining a function to match the given specifications
Calling the function in your program
Using if statements (can combine them with dictionaries)
Instructions
For every plant, there is a growth cycle. The number of days that it takes starting from being a seed and ending in being a fruit is what is called the growth cycle. Write a function that takes a plant's name as an argument and returns its growth cycle (in days).
In your program:
Input from the user the name of a plant
Check if the input is either "strawberry", "cucumber" or "potato", if Yes:
2.1 Call calculate_growth_cycle
2.2. In function calculate_growth_cycle, check over the plant's name:
2.2.1 If strawberry, print "### The life cycle of a strawberry ###" and return 110
2.2.2 If cucumber, print "### The life cycle of a cucumber ###" and return 76
2.2.3 If potato, print "### The life cycle a potato ###" and return 120
2.3 With the growth cycle…

Create a program that has a global integer variable assigned to a value of 1.
Then, create a new function named increment that increments the global variable.
In the main function, if the current value of the global variable is divisible by 3, print “Cody!”. Otherwise, print the value of that global variable.
Repeatedly call the increment function until the value of the global variable is greater than 15.
Output
Multiple lines containing a string or an integer

The subroutine should determine and return the hypotenuse, c, of the triangle. (Hint:UsePythagorastheorem,c2=a2+b2.) b. Include the function written for Exercise 4a in a working program. The main() function should call rightTriangle() correctly and display the value the function returns.arrow_forwardWhy do you need to include function prototypes in a program that contains user-defined functions? - Mark the following statements as true or false: a. To use a predefined function in a program, you need to know only the name of the function and how to use it. (1) b. A value-returning function returns only one value. (2, 3) c. Parameters allow you to use different values each time the function is called. (2, 7, 9) d. When a return statement executes in a user-defined function, the function immediately exits. (3, 4) e. A value-returning function returns only integer values. (4) f. A variable name cannot be passed to a value parameter. (3, 6) g. If a C++ function does not use parameters, parentheses around the empty parameter list are still required. (2, 3, 6) h. In C + + , the names of the corresponding formal and actual parameters must be the same. (3, 4, 6) i. A function that changes the value of a reference parameter also changes the value of the actual parameter. (7) j. Whenever the value of a reference parameter changes, the value of the actual parameter changes. (7) k. In C++, function definitions can be nested; that is, the definition of one function can be enclosed in the body of another function. (9) l. Using global variables in a program is a better programming style than using local variables, because extra variables can be avoided. (10) m. In a program, global constants are as dangerous as global variables. (10) n. The memory for a static variable remains allocated between function calls. (11)arrow_forward5.8 LAB: User-Defined Functions: Max magnitude CORAL LANGUAGE ONLY PLEASE Define a function named MaxMagnitude with two integer parameters that returns the largest magnitude value. Write a program that reads two integers from a user, calls function MaxMagnitude() with the inputs as arguments, and outputs the largest magnitude value. Ex: If the inputs are: 5 7 the function returns and the program output is: 7 Ex: If the inputs are: -8 -2 the function returns and the program output is: -8 Note: The function does not just return the largest value, which for -8 -2 would be -2. - When a function requests several arguments, how important is it what order they come in?arrow_forwardmplement a function gct according to these guidelines: The function accepts a single positive integer which represents a number of tablespoons of a liquid. You may assume that this number is always between 0 and 25599 (inclusive of both). The function returns a formatted str containing an equivalent number of gallons, cups andtablespoons. The answer should use as many gallons, then cups as possible. For example:gct(312) would return '01g,03c,08t' as 312 tablespoons is equivalent to 1 gallon, 3 cups, and 8 tablespoons. Each of the output quantities (gallons, cups, tablespoons) should occupy two digits. If the values have less than two digits, they should be padded with leading zeroes. I.e., 2 cups is represented by '02c' .arrow_forwardDefine a function named summation. This function expects two numbers, named low and high, as arguments.
