Explanation

In order for the native populations to survive in the rainforest, fishing, collecting of berries and fruits, and subsistence hunting of small animals are important. Since the introduction of agriculture and farming, lands became cleared, and crops such as yams, manioc, beans, maize (corn), sugarcane, and bananas, are cultivated. The process of cutting down smaller trees and then, burning resulted debris and planting the crops became a practice.

Once the forest is removed, the farming practice can be continued for only two to three years since the soil will be completely futile due to less nutrient supply. Whenever this happens, the native population moves to another forest area to begin the practice again...
