The plates move continuously in constant motion, and the motion is relative to each other. Most of the major interactions occur along these boundaries.

There are three different types of plate boundaries based on the relative movement of the plates to the opposite side of the boundary. These are divergent plate boundary, convergent plate boundary and the transform plate boundary.
