Chapter 8, Problem 15TYK
Summary Introduction

To review:

The testing of conclusion led by the space travelers about the vibrantly purple color beings present on a distant planet, that the beings secure the energy, essential for their survival like photosynthesis on earth.

Introduction:

Most of the plants we saw in our daily life are green in color due to the presence of pigment named as chlorophyll. Chlorophyll molecules are good in absorbing blue and red light, while green light mainly reflected by the plants. There is a number of plants showing purple color, these plants are rich in pigment named as anthocynin. Anthocynins are water soluble vacuolar pigments, belong to the native molecules called flavanoids, which are synthesized via the phenylpropanoid pathway.
