Introduction:
The cardiovascular system has a huge branching network of blood vessels to all parts of the body in order to facilitate the exchange of nutrients, salts, and gases. These blood vessels are divided into three major categories: arteries, capillaries, and veins. Arteries are thick walled and made up of three layers as they handle high pressure generated by the heart to carry oxygenated form of blood to all the tissues. Veins carry the deoxygenated form of blood back to the heart. They are also made up of three layers of tissue but since the pressure they have to withstand is only a fraction of that of arteries, they are thin walled.
