Concept explainers
Abnormal and uncontrolled tissue growth in the testis leads to testicular cancer. These cells may invade other parts of the body through metastasis. Surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation are important treatments for testicular cancer. Cancer and treatment affect the quality of life of the patient. Also, in the case of testicular cancer, it affects the sexual life of the patient. Chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation can affect body image, sexual response (sexual interest and satisfaction), and sexual relationships of the patient. Cancer treatment induces various side effects such as nausea, vomiting, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and apathy. All these adverse effects interfere with the sexual function of the patient.
