Chapter 8, Problem 8.26E
An atomic nucleus suddenly bursts apart (fissions) into two pieces. Piece A, of mass mA, travels off to the left with speed υA, Piece B, of mass mB, travels off to the right with speed υB. (a) Use conservation of momentum to solve for υB in terms of mA, mB, and υA. (b) Use the results of part (a) to show that KA/KB = mB/mA, where KA, and KB are the kinetic energies of the two pieces.

A 1150 kg car drives along a city street at 20.0miles per hour (8.94 m/s). What speed must the 0.142 baseball have if its momentum is to be equal in magnitude to that of the car?
Two balls of masses mi=2.3g and m2=1.9g moving with initial velocities v=18.2m/s and v2=23.4m/s respectively collided and went opposite ways with the final velocities v1,= 18.4m/s and V2,= 19.6m/s.
Compute the momentum and kinetic energy of the two balls before and after collision.
An object A moving with velocity v collides with a stationary object B. After the collision, A is moving with velocity 2 1 v and B with velocity 3 2 v. Find the ratio of their masses. If, instead of bouncing apart, the two bodies stuck together after the collision, with what velocity would they then move?
