Interpretation:
The solubility of gaseous solutes in water and its effect on temperature and pressure has to be identified.
Concept introduction:
Solubility is the quantity of solute (solid, liquid or gas) that will dissolve in a given amount of solvent (solid, liquid or gas) at definite temperature and pressure. Solubility depends on the physical and chemical property of solvent, solute and concentration of the solution.
Gaseous solutions (gas in liquid) are influenced by temperature. As temperature increases, solubility of gaseous solution decreases. Because, increase in the kinetic energy of the gas results in the gas to be escaped.
