Question
Chapter 9, Problem 1RA-P275
Summary Introduction
Introduction
Sports journalists should consciously choose their questions to avoid the appearance of bias. They should also avoid demeaning athletes with seemingly innocent comments, and this can be difficult when implicit microaggressions are present in the questions that they ask. Journalists should use the same wording in headlines that characterize people, so as to not unconsciously support white supremacy or male supremacy. Further, when reporting on women's sports journalists should respect the skill, talent, and ability of the athletes rather than emphasizing their sex.
