The parities of occupied orbitals of naphthalene have to be noted.
Concept Introduction:
The classification of orbitals into gerade and ungerade is called parity.
When an inversion operation is applied on an orbital of a molecule have centre of symmetry, and if the orbital remains in the same phase after operation then it is called gerade and if the sign changes then it is called ungerade. Gerade orbitals are represented by using a subscript g ant ungerade are represented by using a subscript u.
