    D=1P1cosθ1dA+2P2cosθ2dA+3P3cosθ3dA        (I)

Here, the force at state 1 is P1, the force at state 2 is P2, the force at state 3 is P3, the angle between force at state 1 applied with the horizontal is θ1, angle between force at state 2 applied with the horizontal is θ2, angle between force at state 3 applied with the horizontal is θ3 and the differential area is dA.

Write the expression for the coefficient of drag.

    CD=D12ρV2A        (II)

Here, the density is ρ, velocity of flow is V, the area is A and the drag force is D.

Write the expression for the coefficient of lift.

    CL=L12ρV2A        (III)

Here, the lift force is L.

Conclusion:

Substitute 60° for θ1, 60° for θ2 and 0° for , 0.5ρV2 for P1, 0.5ρV2 for P2, lb for dA and 0.25ρV2 for P3 in Equation (I).

    D=0.50×(1.94slug/ft3)×(5ft/sec)2×0.1ft×4ft=7.1295slugft/sec2(1lbslugft/sec2)=9.7lb

Substitute 1.94slug/ft3 for ρ, 5ft/sec for V, 0.1ft for l, 4ft for b and 9.7lb for D in Equation (II).
