The conditions required for formation of hurricane are temperature, distance from equator, lapse rate, wind shear and humidity.

Explanation of Solution

The various conditions necessary for hurricane formation are discussed below:

• The temperature of ocean water has to be over $26°\text{C}$ . The formation of hurricane will not occur below this temperature.
• Distance from equator is also one of the important factors in formation of hurricane. A hurricane will not form if Carioles force will not generate due to spinning of earth. The formation of these forces occurs maximum at poles and minimum at the equator.
• A saturated lapse rate confirms the generation of latent heat at maximum rate. Hurricanes are generated by the condensation of water vapor. It then rises near the eye ball.
• The greater strength of upper level wind effects the formation of hurricane.
• Dry air hinders the formation of hurricane. Humidity is essential for formation of hurricane.
• If all the above conditions are satisfied then tropical wave convert to hurricane.
