Protect the mother and baby, provide safety and
comfort, and avoid complications.
At risk for injury, Acute pain, Risk for fetal
injury, labor pain, and risk for impaired
skin integrity.
If your blood pressure falls during delivery or if you
are bleeding heavily, you can receive IV fluids,
medication, or blood.
Fetal heart rate is assessed by your pregnancy care
provider to diagnose fetal distress.
Medical Interventions, Labs, Diagnostic Studies
Disease process: Non-reassuring fetal status___________________________________
Pathophysiology: Definition /Etiology / Chronicity/ Prognosis
Brain injury, Cerebral palsy, still birth,
ectopic pregnancy, or miscarriage.
Goals
Nursing Diagnosis (prioritize)
Nursing Interventions
Place the patient in a side lying position, provide
oxygen, administer IV fluids, identify the cause, and
give proper medications if needed – As ordered.
When a fetus exhibits abnormalities in heart rate, movement, or indications of oxygen deprivation
before to or during delivery, it is said to be in fetal distress, also known as non-reassuring fetal
state.
A condition that causes the fetus to be oxygen-deprived either temporarily or permanently, which
can result in fetal hypoxia and metabolic acidosis.
Signs/ Symptoms
Risk Factors
Umbilical cord compression, Preeclampsia,
low blood pressure, obesity, and chronic
diseases.
Potential Complications
Decreased, slowed, or no movement, Prolonged fetal
tachycardia, Prolonged decelerations, Intense back pain, vaginal
bleeding, and Intense cramping.

A chemistry student must write down in her lab notebook the concentration of a solution of potassium chloride. The concentration of a solution equals the mass
of what's dissolved divided by the total volume of the solution.
Here's how the student prepared the solution:
• The label on the graduated cylinder says:
empty weight: 8.0 g
• She put some solid potassium chloride into the graduated cylinder and weighed it. With the potassium chloride added, the cylinder weighed 48.930 g.
• She added water to the graduated cylinder and dissolved the potassium…

The extraction of aluminum metal from the aluminum hydroxide in bauxite ore by the Hall-Héroult process is one of the most remarkable success stories of late
19th century practical chemistry, turning aluminum from a rare and precious metal into the cheap commodity it is today. In the first step, aluminum hydroxide
reacts to form alumina and water:
2 Al(OH)3(s)-Al₂O3(s) + 3 H₂O(g)
11
In the second step, alumina and carbon react to form aluminum and carbon dioxide:
2 AL₂O3(s)+3 C(s)-4 Al(s) + 3 CO₂(9)
Write the net chemical equation for the production of aluminum from aluminum hydroxide and carbon. Be sure your equation is balanced.
