Field Experience A: Leadership and Collaboration Leadership and Collaboration Effective collaboration between general education and special education teachers is crucial in providing a meaningful and supportive learning environment for children with disabilities. Achieving mutual goals that benefit students requires dividing responsibilities and resources between public education and special education teachers. Collaborative leadership is pivotal in problem-solving and decision-making processes that positively impact students. Special education teachers advocate for their student's needs in the classroom and help develop a better understanding of mathematical concepts. General education teachers, on the other hand, are responsible for creating highly effective lessons that promote high-level thinking skills. Through teamwork, educators and students alike can establish successful classroom relationships, leading to better learning outcomes and a more supportive learning environment. Roles and Responsibilities Providing quality education for disabled students in an inclusive and least restrictive environment is essential. Collaborative development of inclusive lessons that cater to the needs of all students, including typical learning peers, can enhance students' autonomy and improve their learning outcomes. The special education teacher is responsible for creating supplementary learning opportunities for students with disabilities. During an observation of an inclusive classroom and lesson, a teach-and-assist model was utilized at the outset of the lesson, transitioning to alternative teaching once independent learning began.
