NGEN 4478 Homework 2 Name…………………………………………………………………………..due: Tuesday 4/2/2024 Write procedure, units, and assumptions. Problem 1 Water is flowing in a pipeline with a flange orifice meter. The orifice meter run is 4 in. diameter, schedule 40 pipe. The pressure at the meter site is 50 psi. Select a reasonable differential pressure range to calculate the maximum and minimum volumetric flow rate and mass flow rate assuming 70 F flowing temperature. Problem 2 Using the data below estimate the volumetric flow rate and mass flow rate using a flange orifice flow meter. Select a plate orifice using a reasonable differential pressure. Meter diameter pipe = 4 in schedule 40 Gasoline specific gravity 0.68-0.74 at 60F Use GPSA fig 23-10 to convert specific gravity of oil fractions at flowing temperature. Flowing temperature = 70-80 F Operating pressure = 100 psi Problem 3 Select the size of a flange orifice flow meter (pipe lengths, pipe diameter and orifice diameter) to measure 50 MM SCFD of GOM production sale natural gas at 100 F and 400 psia flowing conditions. Use a reasonable differential pressure for your calculations. Select one of the configurations shown in Fig 3- 10 of GPSA data book for your calculations.
