Lab Results Table 1. shows the results for brass material.
Table 2. shows the results for aluminium material. Table 3. shows the results for steel material. DISCUSSION Torsion testing is a mechanical process used to assess how a product or material will respond to the stress of repeated twisting motion. Torsion testing aims to measure a material's shear strength, ductility, and shear modulus under stress. Torsion testing is also used in materials research to investigate different materials' mechanical properties and develop new materials with improved performance characteristics. This testing can help researchers understand how a material’s microstructure affects its mechanical properties and how it can be optimized to meet specific design requirements. In this experiment, Steel, Brass, and aluminum were used in the torsion test. The results produced by this experiment presented the amount of shaft modulus in each metal specimen. Steel had the highest shaft modulus of 78 GPa, Brass had a modulus of 40 GPa and aluminum had the lowest of 24 GPa.
